In our previous blog post, we discussed the basics of liposuction and briefly described the process. Today we will focus on who is liposuction for and how to best recover from this procedure. So let’s dive in.

Recovery from liposuction

The first thing you will notice right after liposuction is that your sleep might be a bit disturbed after liposuction. The surgical site will feel sore, swollen and a bit uncomfortable. This is totally normal and a sign of the recovery process after the procedure.

Going back to work isn’t something you should rush into. It’s best to wait a bit before going back to your normal routine after liposuction.

Some people return to their usual activities after a few days (they might feel sore though) but the important thing is that you should follow your doctor’s recommendations.

When opting in for any type of cosmetic surgery you should always consider patient-safety and risk and pick a surgeon that has the necessary skills, education and experience in performing liposuction.

Liposuction will provide better results if you and your surgeon work together. Communicate with your doctor clearly, collaborate and you’ll have a positive experience.

Avoid discounted and cheap cosmetic procedures. Those are usually riskier.

Cheap and discounted procedures will usually end up in revisions where you will pay mine times more than for the original surgery.

Is liposuction for you?

Everyone has heard about liposuction. Although people think that the procedure is simple like walking into a clinic, falling asleep, spending about 30 minutes on an operating table and waking up with an entirely new and improved body.

Even though there are no clearly defined restrictions on who can and cannot undergo a liposuction, the most important factor you need to consider is the elasticity of your skin. A general rule is that younger people, who are non-smokers, don’t have previous sun damage on their skin or even have darker skin tones…they have the best skin elasticity. As we get older, the skin elasticity fades, it cannot bounce back as quickly as it used to, so older patients if they remove large amounts of fat, could end up with saggy skin.

Best candidates for liposuction are those that are closest to their ideal body weight, no matter if they are men or women. They can still have fat bulges though. Even though liposuction could theoretically improve the contours of any body, patients that have a BMI bigger than 30 are generally not good candidates for this procedure.

At Body by Kotoske we understand your desire, we can help you achieve your goals. But we also need to explain what liposuction as a procedure can and cannot to as a fat reduction procedure.
