2020 is almost over, and many will gladly wish it a farewell. This year was a particularly difficult one thanks to the global Covid-19 pandemic (which is still ongoing) so we are looking forward to leaving it behind and focusing on a better future.
Many things were impacted by the pandemic, but as are slowly getting used to the new routine and hoping to return to the old ways in 2021, we would like to share with you what will be the biggest cosmetic tweaks next year.
Many people have regular visits to their favorite cosmetic surgeon, but some are only thinking about a cosmetic or plastic surgery. No matter which group you belong to, there’s no doubt that non-surgical cosmetic procedures like dermal fillers or Botox will continue to gain popularity, as they did in the past years. Of course, the other cosmetic procedures (surgical) are also here to stay. After all, there’s only so much a Botox can do.
Both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures will find a way into people’s beauty regimes. Of course, aside from these, new techniques are constantly being invented that will allow us to treat various conditions and concerns.
In the past years, we’ve seen the launch of Profhilio, which is a treatment that uses concentrated hyaluronic acid that is another way for injectable skincare to stimulate collagen production and increase elasticity. And Botox was used not only to treat minor wrinkles, but also to treat excessive sweating.
Like any other branch of medicine, cosmetic and aesthetic treatments are constantly evolving. So what does 2021 have in store for us?
Next-gen nose jobs
Technology in cosmetic medicine is becoming increasingly sophisticated which help surgeons achieve superior results like never before. One of these developments is called the Piezo technology, which revolutionized the way we do rhinoplasties aka nose jobs. Thanks to this technology, we can now perform nose jobs with extreme precision. Its ultrasonic technology allows cosmetic surgeons to reshape the bone in an entirely different, less-instrusive way. The old way, where surgeons used a hammer and chisel, caused a bit more bruising, swelling and the end results might not always turn out the way the patients wanted them to. But thanks to this new and innovative technology, there’s now less bruising, swelling and more accurate results.
Injectables will blossom
This year has forced us to stare at our faces through a screen and it’s no surprise that many of us are looking forward to going back to cosmetic treatments. When we combine knowledge and prolonged staring at our face over video conferencing, the injectable industry starts to blossom. Those who already had this type of treatment are eager to resume and we also expect ‘newcomers’ on the market. Retinol, which can be found in many rejuvenating creams, can only do so much to smooth out the minor and small wrinkles. To get rid of deeper and more prominent lines, we still need to use injectable treatments.
The 8 teeth smile
The perfect smile is when you show 8 top teeth. If you smile and show8-10 teeth, doctors call this a “full buccal corridor”. This “corridor” provides necessary support to the soft tissues in your cheeks and lips. If the lip length from the nose to the lips is bigger, we look youthful. So this is why it’s important to have a broad smile. But as we get older, there’s less and less space between the teeth and corners of your lips. So doctors (cosmetic surgeons and dentists) use cosmetic bonding and minimal veneers to make the back teeth big enough to fill the whole space.
Face fillers
Many cosmetic surgeons still divide the face into different areas when working with face fillers. But today, they are starting to look at the big picture and the whole face that they will treat. Injecting fillers into one specific area e.g. lips or cheeks might cause an abnormal look. This is why it’s important to assess the anatomy of the entire face so that a natural and more appealing look can be achieved. This way the cosmetic clinician might not have to use so much filler or Botox in one area, but to distribute it equally.
