brow lift surgery

Not everyone has perfect, symmetrical eyebrows. In fact there are many people that have slightly or significantly asymmetrical brows or even sagging forehead, dropping eyelids etc. If you experience some of these symptoms, you might be interested in undergoing brow lift surgery.

As part of the natural aging process, every tissue in our body ages, becomes less flexible and loses its elasticity. When this happens to our eyes and brows, we start looking tired. But thanks to brow lift surgery, you can regain the natural, youthful and refreshing look and undo some of the effects of aging.

What exactly is a brow lift surgery?

As we get older, the skin on our forehead starts to sag and it can cause sagging and droopy look on our eyebrows and upper eyelids. When you decided to go under this procedure, you’re, in some way, giving the upper part of your face a facelift.

There are two main methods a brow lift can be done. The first method is called the classic lift and the second is the endoscopic lift.

With the classic approach, the cosmetic surgeon makes a continuous cut at the level of the ears, along with your natural hairline and downwards toward the top of the other ear. With this approach, the surgeon should take care in order to avoid visible scars once the surgery site heals.

The endoscopic approach means that the surgeon will perform fewer cuts along the scalp. With this brow lift surgery method, the surgeon will insert a tiny scope (a thin tube) into the incision site and then use small anchors to keep the skin in place during the procedure. This approach is less invasive that the classic approach and the recovery time is much faster and smoother.

During your consultation with the surgeon, you will discuss both options and see which one is best suited for your particular case.

Consultation before the procedure

Before you could even have your brow lift surgery, you will need to have a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon. We highly recommend that you do a thorough research when finding a suitable doctor and to make sure that he has all the necessary qualifications, certifications and experience to perform such surgery.

During the consultation you and your surgeon will discuss what are your main goals with the procedure and in what way would you like to improve your appearance. You will also go over your medical history and assess your current health to make sure that you’re a good candidate.

The surgeon will take a look at your forehead and upper eyelids and the muscles that hold your forehead. You might also be required to make different facial expressions so that the doctor could see how the muscles and face moves and to determine which brow lift surgery approach is the best for you.

Feel free to ask questions that you might have in order to clarify what can you expect during and after the procedure, how much will the procedure costs and what is the recovery time.
